Beaded Hair
Sticks have become quite popular and they come in adult and children's sizes.
They can be used for the men's traditional scalp locks or roach sticks, but are
often now used by the women to hold a hair bun in place as shown below.
We have both the traditional
Dream Catcher as well as the colorful Sun Catcher. Native American legend
tells that the Dream Catcher was usually given to newborn babies, newlyweds, and
people who have continuing bad dreams. They were hung in the lodge, and usually
above the individual's sleeping area. It was used to catch all dreams, good and
bad. The bad dreams would get caught in the webbing and be held there till first
morning light, then burned off and destroyed by the first rays of the sun. Good
dreams were caught, and knowing their way to the hole in the center, would
filter down into the feathers and be held there, only to return another night to
be dreamed again; or would find their way to the hoop, where they enter the life
of the dreamer through personal adornment. Sun Catchers use the brilliant
radiance of transparent beads to capture the healing power of the Sun and feed
our essence with color energy. Peyote Stitch
